Skilling Queenslanders for Work

untapped talent

This Skilling Queenslanders for Work project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government. 

 

This program aims to equip participants with job readiness skills, connection to networks and direct engagement with local employers.

 

Ready for Work is one of eight programs that make up the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiatives.

 

It aims to support people from refugee, asylum seeker and migrant backgrounds to gain:

 

  • Employability skills/preparation for the Australian workplace. 

  • Job preparation and readiness training 

  • Opportunities to engage directly with employers/support finding and securing employment

  • Individualised career coaching/mentoring development for long term success with employment and progression pathways and tailored support according to each participant's challenges and strengths

  • Offer tailored coaching and mentoring to build networks and knowledge to actively participate in society and economy.

  • Driving lessons to minimise barriers to employment

This one-day-a-week course is delivered on Mondays from 05 February 2024 – 29th April  2024.​

Women Together Program

This program is aimed at providing education and training for women from refugee and migrant backgrounds. Community Foundation Skills is one of eight programs that make up the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiatives.

It aims to support women to:

  • Overcome barriers to successfully participate in society and economy. 

  • Equip with knowledge, skills and confidence (self-efficacy) to address individual barriers where participants are impacted by multiple systems and structures

  • Offer tailored coaching and mentoring to build networks and knowledge to actively participate in society and economy.

  • To connect and learn in a cultural and gender safe environment.

 

This one-day-a-week course is delivered on Thursdays from 09 February 2024 – 03 May 2024.

 

The sessions will be held at:

Kingston East Community Centre

177 Meakin Road

Slacks Creek
